30 questions that help you on your path to enlightenment

In a perfect world, we are all enlightened beings filled with a deep sense of meaning. We feel that we have purpose and that there is a point to this life. These are things that I actually do believe about life, but often times we aren’t feeling it. Am i right? Life tends to get us confused and pissed off, or we wind up feeling stuck + uninspired + we just settle for the “that’ll do” mindset.

I most definitely don’t have all the answers that might remedy that feeling of mundaneness or stuckness (Are those words?); but I do believe that the more self-aware we become, the more we reflect on ourselves + our lives + our journeys, then the act of becoming awake and aware is something that helps to propel us forward with a sense of mission and vision. We begin to evolve from the inside out. Our souls awaken and then we begin to create, on the outside, the life that we know we are meant to live.

But, it ain’t easy. However it is so worth it. Intrigued?

When was the last time that you sat down and interviewed yourself? What, never, you say? Perhaps you’ve never really actually thought about interviewing yourself. Well, after having a very inspiring, reflective, and slow weekend at home, I have decided to share some questions that I think are important to ask ourselves… and I thought this would be the perfect last post in my Introduction to Life Coaching series.

It’s pretty important to know ourselves, so we can continue to grow, develop, evolve, and create the life that we want to create. We need to know where we stand, what we love, what scares us…. and so much more. So, I hope that with this post, I inspire you to grab a little notebook + pen and take some time to scribble down your thoughts and take notes on what your soul is saying to you right now.

You know, I really do believe that taking some time to just be with ourselves, to write down + ponder what’s important to us right now in life, can help bring us closer to who we are now, and who we want to be. Not to mention that knowing ourselves is the first step to knowing anything else. Should we desire to become more evolved + enlightened, and discover a meaningful life, then the only path to feeling deep peace and calm, is through the process of knowing who we are.

So, carve out an hour or so. Grab some coffee or tea, get out some paper + pen, get comfy, perhaps even light a candle and settle in. Interpret the questions however you want. Think quickly, go with your gut feelings, and let this self-interview begin to heal your soul.

You can ask anyone in the world a question. Who + what would it be?

If you could say one thing to your 15 year old self, what would it be?

What makes you come alive? When was the last time you felt truly alive?

Who/what inspires you the most? Why are you drawn to those inspirations?

What area of your life, right now, makes you feel best?

What are your strengths? What are you really good at?

What is something you’ve always wanted to do but were too scared?

When have you done something that you thought you couldn’t do?

What is something you would love to learn?

Imagine money is no longer a thing. How would you spend your time?

If you stripped away all of the layers of other people’s expectations and desires for you, what would you want for yourself?

What’s one thing you’ve been putting off doing?

What headline would you like to read in tomorrow’s newspaper?

What is a perfect day to you? Truly?

What are you most looking forward to in life?

If you could change just one thing in your past, what would it be? (And nothing is not an answer).

Would you want to be your own friend?

Where would you like to travel in the next 5 years?

Describe the last five years of your life in one sentence. And the next five years?

When did you last do something for the first time?

If I gave you 10k to start a business, what would you do with it?

If you could make one change in the world,  what would it be?

At the end of your life, what do you want your legacy to be?

So, how did it go? What do you feel now? Any interesting or unexpected insights? Perhaps you have uncovered something that you’d like to talk more about or explore further. As always, I’m here to support and listen. Just leave me a comment below or send me a quick email. I’d love to hear from you!

  1. I thought about answering these as a first post on a blog but I think I would feel far too naked to use this as a start. I think these are great questions that I would really have to search inside for. Thanks for posting some food for thought.
