my home across the atlantic: i’m headed to sweden!

today i am hopping on a plane with my love and our amazing friend, paige, and heading home to sweden for a month-long vacation! woo hoooooo! after our first year back in asheville (and an incredible year it has been!), we are traveling over the sea, back to visit our home in sweden for a month. of course, we don’t own a physical home there, but loved ones are there – and we are coming home to them – and to all of the ways of the swedes.

it’s funny, as much as i know that i am a north carolina, east coast, american girl, i am also a swedish girl. without a doubt, i am returning home tomorrow for a brief while – home to the land of fika, lakes, yellow fields, archipelagos, old buildings, and freedom. home to a place where i discovered so much about myself and my dreams, and shared some of my most amazing and difficult moments of my life with my love. and all of those experiences and people have made sweden my other home.

i cannot believe it’s been a year since we left sweden, and i cannot wait to see the beautiful country below me as we land, or ride the train through the countryside, or hug the necks of so many friends and family. i can’t wait to speak swedish, drink coffee, eat a cinnamon bun, sing songs, and soak up every little bit of gorgeous, democratic, open-minded sweden. and i really can’t wait to show paige a little glimpse into our life before we moved to asheville – to walk down memory lane and visit the places that became the story of the first 4 years of my marriage to lina.

so, we fly today! and adventure awaits! see you soon, sweden, & see you in a month, asheville!
