on being present. here & now.

sometimes, something comes along at just the right moment. call it karma, providence, serendipity, luck, whatever. somehow it just happens… it’s a mystery. a sacred, secret, wonderful mystery how these things happen. but they do. and just when i needed it most, in the midst of all the hustle & bustle in my life, & in my head, i stumbled onto this quote. i’ll not say anything more about it, just pass it along to each of you to soak in as you feel…

“by living deeply in the present moment we can understand the past better and prepare for a better future.”

– Thich Nhat Hanh

a little challenge for us all: when you find yourself today dwelling on the past or living too far into the future with plans and anxiety, remember to be in the moment and savor right then and there all that life, the universe  has given you. just be.

wishing you balance & peace. ♥

  1. Oh Liz, how true this is! I don’t think true healing of any issue can start until we start living every unique moment like it really is: unique. And yet three days ago I wouldn’t understand it, or would have agreed blindly without considering if I actually live that way.

I can only speak of my own personal experience but there is a unique quality when living in the moment. I find that I am grateful of actually living it, there is peace and purpose and mindfulness. The past, no matter how horrifying is accessible through the same mindfulness but because I am in the present moment it acts as an anchor and safety. The past can’t suck me in as easily as before.

But what I really like is the sense of fluidity and the lack of stickiness in mind. I feel as if everything flows naturally like a small stream flows down a mountain. I think in a way that’s happiness. I’m so grateful.

    1. What a poetic comment! Thank you for sharing so much. I know that the past few days in your life have been meaningful for you. Of course I don’t really know what’s going on, but I feel that you are building strength and balance in your life right now. I want you to know that I’m thinking about you. Wishing you peace. xx

  2. A very true quote and one that we have to keep telling ourselves in order not to forget it. Read a book last week that was called “the time is now”. Read it! You’d love it. xx

    1. Thanks for the tip! I’m looking for something good, but can’t find so much in English. 🙁 It’s hit or miss. xo
