the week that was the reynolds beach vacation (part 2)

After settling in and sleeping on our first night in the beach house that we (and by we, I mean my awesome parents + awesome aunt and uncle who paid) were immediately in full time vacation mode.

It didn’t take long for us to kick back and just do what we do. Which is a whole lot of just being together. Literally relaxing with our feet up, heads buried in books + magazines, sitting on the beach, rocking on the porch, and drinking beer + wine while munching on snacks.

Our first morning, I woke early and thought it’d be amazing to meditate/do some yoga in the beach. So I did. It was it the best meditation time I’d ever had since there was no wind and tiny gnats buzzing and landing all around me. But, who cares?! I was still soaking it up.

Then came the famous Reynolds morning tradition: coffee for hours, rocking on the porch.

By late morning, we hit the beach, which was just a walk over the dunes outside our house. Gaaaah. Beach front homes are the best.

Of course I burned my legs something fierce on Monday (like a rookie), so what to do on Tuesday but go get a manicure and pedicure with Lina and my aunt?! Luxury! I’d never actually done that before. Neither had Lina. So, it was heaven – even if it was a bit out of character for me. And, yes, I did love it.

We got all dolled up and ate dinner out at our favorite spot, Amos Moquitoes. It was yummy, but not quite as yummy as I remember it. So, check for traditions, but I’m not sure if it is a must visit next time.

In fact, I’ve come to see, after this trip to the states, that it’s really much more about the present moment than traditions. It’s being in the moment, with important people, and soaking up what’s happening right then. Who cares if things are the same or different or even where we are.

What’s made this beach week so special for so many years is my family. And what’s made Asheville so amazing is nothing but the people.

So, that’s the part 2 info. Now, here are the photos from Monday + Tuesday. Hope you like ’em!

Oh my, how I love the beach. And all of these moments… they are just irreplaceable. Hang tight, and I’ll share some more photos from our week soon. Until then, wishing you tons of simple, little moments that mean so very much.
