the week that was the reynolds family beach week // 32 (part 1)

Hello, friends! Well, I totally thought I’d be writing this post as my first post at home in Sweden, but I’m not.

Instead, I’m in a hotel in New Jersey. Why, you  may wonder? Well, because of a crazy traffic jam that we were stuck in on our way to the airport, we missed our flight on Saturday. We were literally stuck in traffic between Baltimore and Deleware for over three hours. I talked to the airline multiple times, and in the end had to rebook our flight to today (Sunday).

Not optimal at all. And, yet, so great in one way.

We’d left the beach at 3 am and were waaaaay ahead of schedule to arrive at the airport outside of NYC early. But, after 14 hours in the car, and a ton of stress, a 101 degree (40 C) day, a hotel night just outside the airport seemed perfect.

It means that we’ve gotten one more day in the US, more time with my parents, and some much needed rest. We’ve literally been in bed since last night at 7:30, even ordering in delivery food so as to not have to go anywhere.

Checkout time is 12 noon, so we threw on a t-short and shorts, went downstairs to eat a long breakfast, and now I’m back in bed while Lina showers. I’ll grab a warm shower soon, then we will just hang with my parents until check-out.

And we will arrive at the airport super early for our flight this evening.

But, this post isn’t so much about right now, as it is about this past week.

And this past week was a dream. I was in my other happy place, my other North Carolina home: Atlantic Beach. With my favorite people – except my brother who sadly couldn’t be with us during the week. Doing my favorite things  all of which you will see in all of the photos that are about to follow.

I’ve got a lot to post + share, so I’m gonna just begin with our arrival. Our road trip down the mountain + across North Carolina and those fabulous first few hours of gathering at the beach and getting settled in. You know that feeling that a whole wonderful week lays ahead of you… that’s the feeling we all had in these photos. It was just he beginning of our vacation together and the summer vibes were high.

Enjoy!!

We were all so very excited to arrive + get settled in. So excited to see each other again. After unpacking the cars, we got right to vacationing by starting the evening with a BBQ (pulled pork) dinner from our favorite BBQ place, beer, laughter, catching up, and a walk on the beach.

There’s so much more to come!

In the meantime, it’s time for me to hop in the shower and then head to the airport. Cross your fingers that it all goes much more smoothly today!

Wishing you a beautiful Sunday, friends. See you in Sweden!

xoxo. liz.
