07.16 magic // a playlist for wonder + awe

Magic. It’s a word I love. One that conjures up images of beauty, mystery, wonder and awe.

And I think it’s the perfect focus for the month of July. A month that we all tend to slow down, or change gears, whether we are in the midst of summer or winter.

I somehow feel that this July is one big, long pause. Like a deep breath of fresh air. We may be snuggling under the blankets at home as winter surrounds us, or feeling as if we’ve been set free to wander and frolic about in our bare feet in the height of the summer sun. Wherever we are, and whatever we are doing, though, I think we need this month. We need this shift + break. We need the relaxation + free-spiritedness.

The first six months of the year are complete. And a lot has happened, much has changed. The rest of the year lays out in front of us. An unknown mystery. So all we have is right now. This month. This day. This moment.

And no matter what we do, or where we are this month, be it active or restful, at home or far away, July offers us ample opportunities to pause.

And to live in the midst of magic… allowing ourselves to be mindful and present

It’s time to leave behind our regular routines and to fully exist in the mystical, dreamy, glowing, twinkling moments that come our way.

Living a magical life, for me, is simply living a life where I embrace the awe of the moment. It is being completely at rest and at peace with not understanding, and yet completely appreciating, all that is happening. It is feeling overwhelmed and grateful by what is happening right here, right now.

Magical living is mindful, mystical, cosmic living.

It is seeing and appreciating and getting wrapped up in the moment. Like being swept off your feet. Like feeling goosebumps all over your body. Like breathing deeply and knowing that this moment is special.

It is believing and trusting that which we cannot see, and yet, knowing that something meaningful is present.

It is living a life in which the most ordinary things become extraordinary, where every person and every moment is sacred.

So, to celebrate all of the magic in our lives, I’ve made an epic playlist. It is looooooong, my friends. And it is filled with music that is inspired by those things that are the most magical for me: nature, family, home, spirit, and travel.

It’s a gathering of music that encourages me to sit quietly + reflect, but it is also music that makes me go crazy + dance. It’s a celebration of summer, of life, and of the desire to live wild + free.

To get the playlist, just click on the photo above, and subscribe to the playlist on Spotify. If you don’t have Spotify, then you can create your own playlist by using the list of titles + artists below. I do hope you enjoy it!

Here’s to wishing you a laid back, restful, adventurous, magical July, wild ones. Take a deep breath + just let it all be. Magic is swirling all about you.
