That happened. | Farewell, February 2023. As usual, and quite sadly, I am glad to see you go. I am more than happy to move forward, as you are the toughest month of the year, I think.

The energy of February is chaotic, yet gentle, as all of nature and everyday life moves through transition and awakening.

I didn’t have the energy or inspiration to post much this month, as I was focused on keeping myself grounded and soft, doing my best to flow with it all.

And while this February was, once again, filled with both new and old grief, with every passing year, I am learning how to be with it all.

There were devastating moments, inspiring moments, nights with friends, days of reflection with my love. There was stress, relief, heartbreak, laughter, coziness, uncomfortableness, and creativity.

Somewhere in it all, though, there was an awakening. A slow, gentle, quiet, difficult awakening.

Which, actually, is exactly the energy that February brings… not all at once, but through nature’s chaotic, perfectly-timed, rhythms.

Still, even though the timing + the energy has been right, I’m more than happy to shift into March energy and the true dawning of a new cycle.

Change is on the way. The season of rebirth is here.

January 2023 | I had every intention + wish that January’s winter days would be filled deep contemplation, cozy hibernation, and gentle moments of reflection. And I found many of those deep and lovely moments all throughout the month.

However, I also found dark, tough, heartbreaking, hectic moments as well.

To be honest, I found it tough to stay balanced, to feel aligned, as the days + nights swung back and forth like a pendulum leaving me feeling all of the feels and experiencing all of the emotions. At times, it felt quite extreme, this swinging + shifting, from chaos to calm and back again.

And, I wonder, is this how it is? How it supposed to be? All of the things, all of the time? Or is there a time when I will simply flow again? Through the calm waters and the rapids too, of course, but always flowing. Not simply swinging back and forth.

January, I loved and loathed you this year. And, honestly, I’ve felt the same for the past 3 years now.

But, still, there is hope. There is beauty. There is a whole year that lies ahead. And I still have every intention of indulging, savoring, and living deeply into all of the days of this year.

And, I’ve only just begun. 🥂🧡

Dreaming of escaping with my love to the warm sun this week.

This time of year… I try so hard to sink into it; but year after year now, the transition from January to February has been indescribably tough. And, 2023? No different.

There’s something about this rose on our dining table that speaks to me in these moments. I’m not quite sure what she’s saying yet. But, I see + feel grace and fragility in her petals. Softness in her slow, gentle unfolding. Acceptance. Being. Order. Release. Freedom. Trust.

Trying so hard to drop into, lean into, fall deep into the flow of it all, though. Right where I am.

A little dump from my week. ✌🏼 I’ve been

A little dump from my week. ✌🏼

I’ve been struggling this week, to be honest. Getting back into the intense groove of work, while also keeping the wintering rhythm going, has been rough. Losing the cozy hibernation of December + the holidays, and taking on more responsibilities at work, has left me feeling disconnected + exhausted.

But, I’m doing all my things. Grounding, resting, staying slow in my private life. It’s just that work day grind that has been not aligning with my inner rhythm. Although, all of the work stuff is incredibly inspiring in itself. Add on a very gray + dark + rainy January weather week. My mood, my energy, my everything just feels a bit messy.

So, I’m resetting this weekend. Gonna squeeze out some time for deep reflection and let things be as they are.

I’ve already realized this Saturday morning that I had intuited in the end of 2022 that this new calendar year would be an outward year. My grounding and aligning practices that serve my daily rhythms are in place. It’s really to just lean into them and trust them.

All is as it should be. My wintering - with its balance of busy, intense work responsibilities + slow restorative practices - continues.

The Christmas decorations have been put away until next year. The balcony door + windows were opened wide. Sage + incense filled the rooms. And the fresh, cold air cleaned + purified every space + corner.

Welcome to January’s soft, gentle winter energy. 🕯️
