Midwinter Rituals: Leap into the New Moon

If you’re waiting for a sign, then this is it. There is no time like now. In fact, this is the perfect time. And today’s card coupled with tonight’s new moon, which is the last one before a new year, is telling us just that. So, whatever you want, go for it. Trust the universe. Take that leap. Now!I must admit, this card excites me. Not because I am an adrenaline junkie, but because I love starting over. I love possibilities. I love dreaming of the unknown and trusting the mystery. Every time I set off for the open road, throwing caution to the wind, taking a risk that I know my soul is telling me to, I am sent on an unexpected journey that surpasses even my wildest imagination.

It’s not that I’m super brave or courageous. It’s just that I trust. Over + over again, success or failure, bliss or miss, I always find myself rising, evolving, growing.

Nature shows me exactly what this leaping is all about. Her patterns + cycles remind me month after month, season after season, year after year, that it all unfolds as it should. That with the surrender + letting go of the leaves of the autumn to the bare, and from dead trees of the winter, new life grows once again every spring. The moon cycles through her phases: from the release and emptiness of a dark new moon to the active waxing phase to the bright, illuminating full moon, to the restful waning moon… showing me within a month what it means to be born, rise, die, and be born again. That’s the courage + bravery + trust that nature reveals.

Tonight’s new moon is the last one of 2018. It will be the lunar cycle that carries us into the new year. And, because of that, this is a magical, powerful, inspiring night. If you’ve never set intentions before, I encourage you to try it for the first time tonight. Join me in digging deep into intuition + letting it guide us to what we need to leap toward – or leap away from. This is the perfect moon for tapping into what the soul wants. For setting a vision for the new year. It’s a night for dreaming big. There don’t have to be any specific plans made or crazy actions taken. It’s more about taking that leap of faith to imagine + envision the life that could be. What is it that the soul wants? How can I let my light shine even more? How can I embody my soul + live my truth in the new year?

This is not the time to be afraid to go big. It’s not the time to hold back. But it is the perfect time to look back. The new moon + the Leap card are the perfect setting for looking back over 2018 and seeing how we have grown.

For me, 2018 turned out to be a very inward year. In no way did I plan that, or even think that it would be so. I’m not even sure that I understood how deep I sank into my soul as the days + months passed. But, looking back now, it is clear to me. It was a hermit year. A year of dropping down deep into my roots. Of letting them take hold and expand even deeper into the earth, where I soaked up the ancient wisdom of nature, ancestors, and the magic of the land.

All of this has prepared me for right now. For this transition period in December. In fact, it has prepared me for this Yule calendar of Midwinter Rituals that I am sharing with you all. And it is only right now that I see how perfect the timing is. I have deep, strong, stable roots. And it is now time for me to rise. Time for me, as I set off on a new lunar cycle tonight, to leap into the next new phase, whatever it may bring.

There is no reason for me to be wary or worried. I know, thanks to the earth + the cosmos + the spiritual themes of life-death-life, that all will be well. And, that, without leaping I am stagnant. I must leap + trust if I want to rise + soar. If I want to live my life + evolve my soul. If I want to bloom + grow.

This month, this holiday season, my soul is whispering to me to enjoy, travel, party, and adventure. to get out of my comfort zone + to dare to let my light shine. This is the time to celebrate all that has been, how far I have come, and ready myself for the next new adventure waiting for me.

When was the last time I took a big, giant, soul-inspired leap? I mean a reaaaaally big leap. One where I felt freaked out, but knew that I had to do it. Honestly, it’s been a few years. But, I think the time has come to take a wild leap again. What that leap is, I do not yet know. But, it will come to me. In the meantime, I will continue this journey through December. And I will set my new moon intentions to be open to whatever comes my way. To tap into the intuition in my soul. To not just feel it, but to follow through with it.

Like I said in the beginning, pulling this particular card for a new moon night is a sign. It is the sign. The sign to trust, to leap, to just do it. And to know that the universe has got our back. Putting ourselves out there, sending out positive energy, trusting in the example of nature, will only serve to inspire us to dare to leap time + time again.

Questions for you to ponder:

What have you accomplished this year? What have been your mistakes? Release it all on this new moon night. Reset. Your slate is clean + ready to begin again.

What is your soul calling you to leap towards? Or away from?

How are you being called to live?

What wants to be born from you?

Set your intentions, soul family. And take a leap of faith to simply believe that they will manifest. Because you are loved + you are freaking worth it. Imagine how fucking bright your light can actually be!

xoxo. liz.
